5pm BST | 12pm EDT | 9am PDT

If you're an empath, you're likely very good at noticing what other people feel, want and need.

But healthy aggression gives your nervous system access to something different: the capacity to protect, assert, and act on your own behalf toward what matters.

Healthy aggression is the energy of clear “no” and the energy of clear “yes.”

In this 3-hour workshop, you’ll learn why complex trauma can make healthy aggression feel unsafe, inaccessible, or only available once you’ve been pushed too far, and how building a different relationship with your fight response can support self-protection, self-advocacy, and clearer action for meaningful change.

You’ll be guided through accessible nervous system education and somatic practices designed to increase your nervous system capacity for healthy aggression and the strengthening of an embodied fight response.

Why healthy aggression matters for empaths with complex trauma

If you’re an empath with complex trauma, you probably learned early that staying connected to other people meant softening yourself, adapting quickly, keeping the peace, making room for everyone else before making room for you, or tolerating the intolerable.

Over time, this inhibited your nervous system’s fight response and its capacity for healthy aggression.

Your nervous system might still mobilise for fight when something feels wrong, unfair, harmful, intrusive, or misaligned, but instead of that energy helping you speak, resist, protect, choose, or act differently, it turns into a different response and expression.

You might:

  • freeze when you want to speak;
  • fawn when you want to say no;
  • leave when you want to stay and hold your ground;
  • shut down when you need to advocate for yourself;
  • turn the frustration against yourself afterwards;
  • or only access your fight response once so much has built up that it comes out intensely.

This is where healthy aggression becomes important.

Healthy aggression does not mean danger, destruction, or loss of connection. It is the emotional and mobilising energy of the fight response that supports you in protecting yourself, speaking up, making a choice, taking up space, and moving towards what you want.

For many Empaths, the pattern can look something like this:

Through somatic work, we can begin to work with that middle moment; by helping the nervous system gradually build more capacity to stay connected to the mobilisation of healthy aggression without immediately turning it into something else.

Over time, this can support you to:

  • notice your no before it becomes resentment;
  • stay connected to what you need when someone else is disappointed;
  • express anger before becoming uncontrollable rage;
  • take action without needing complete certainty or approval;
  • advocate for yourself without being unnecessarily harsh;

This is why healthy aggression is not only about protection. It is also part of the nervous system capacity that helps us participate more fully in our own lives.

This workshop is for you if:

  • you are empathetic and often find yourself prioritising other people’s feelings and needs before your own
  • you know you need to set a boundary but struggle to access the words or energy to do it
  • you agree, explain, appease, withdraw, or freeze when you’d rather advocate for yourself
  • you feel delayed anger once an interaction has already ended
  • you tolerate too much and then find yourself reacting much more strongly over one smaller incident
  • you struggle to stay connected to your needs when someone else is disappointed, upset, or disapproving
  • you want to become more comfortable taking up space without being unnecessarily harsh or combative
  • you have goals, creative impulses, or desires that matter to you but find yourself repeatedly losing momentum when action, visibility, or uncertainty enters the picture
  • you want to understand how self-protection and moving towards your desires is supported by the same underlying nervous-system capacity
  • you are interested in practical somatic work that can help you experience these ideas in your body rather than only understanding them intellectually

What You'll Learn:

  • Why empaths with complex trauma can find it difficult to access their fight response and healthy aggression when self-protection or self-advocacy is needed
  • How healthy aggression differs from hostility, destructiveness, or losing total control
  • How healthy aggression supports self-advocacy, including expressing your needs, naming what you want, asking directly, and standing behind your choices
  • Why your nervous system might freeze, fawn, flee, shut down, instead of helping you hold your ground
  • Why some people can access anger only after the moment has passed, or once they have already been pushed too far
  • Why the same mobilising life-force energy also plays a role in motivation, persistence, overcoming obstacles, and pursuing goals
  • The role of healthy aggression in relationships, helping us disagree honestly, tolerate difference, express needs, and stay connected without disappearing into the other person
  • How to begin noticing the early signs of healthy aggression in your body before they become overwhelm, shutdown, or an outburst
  • Three trauma-informed practices to help your nervous system increase its capacity for healthy aggression
  • Practical ways to build more tolerance to stay connected to yourself when another person is disappointed, upset, or disagrees with you
  • A felt sense of what it can be like to access more strength, direction, agency, and choice without becoming less empathetic

About Me

Effie Kli is a trauma-trained somatic coach and educator with over 2,000 hours of somatic, nervous system and trauma training, combined with client work privately and in groups. Her credentials include training as a Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner, Compassionate Inquiry (the somatic-based psychotherapeutic approach developed by Dr. Gabor Maté for healing trauma), the Polyvagal Certificate Course, and a High Performance Coaching Certificate — forming a rigorous, multi-disciplinary foundation for her work. Her holistic approach is informed by science-backed psychology and neuroscience, by the understanding that body and mind are one system, and by what she sees her clients benefit from as she supports them with the processing of trauma and repressed emotions stored in their bodies.

For two decades she lived with cPTSD, and one thing she's seen proven inside her practice and through her own personal change is that our body always guides us towards healing.

In her work and teachings, Effie is not interested in pathologising symptoms and pain because she knows these are our body's way of talking to us. Instead of shaming those experiences, a paradigm shift of healing is to learn to apply compassionate curiosity and learn to speak our body's language so that trauma gets resolved sustainably.

"Effie's course has been life changing for me. I decided to join because of her philosophy, her story and because I felt that she'd 'get' me. She broke down complex information so it was understandable, gave me tools to support myself with my cPTSD, anxiety and depression, and she offered persistent and reliable guidance. There has been such a transformation for me and I'm in a totally difference place compared to where I was before."

Corina Ebnother

"Effie showed me how to re-connect with my body, to feel my feelings, and how to listen to them. She challenged me to see the past and myself without the shame, and soon it became clear to me that there wasn’t anything wrong with me’. She helped me get to the core of my problem, gave me tools to transcend it, and techniques to help me feel and release emotions I used to shut down out of fear. She truly helped me feel ‘whole’ again."
